Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 9, 2026

Cue is designed to respect your privacy. This policy explains what information the app handles and how. In short: Cue does not require an account, does not collect personal information, and does not sell your data.

No account required

Cue does not ask you to create an account or sign in with a name, email address, or password. The app uses your existing iCloud account (your Apple ID) to store and sync your data, as described below.

Your data and iCloud

The movies and shows you save, and the titles you mark as watched, are stored in your private iCloud database using Apple’s CloudKit. This lets your library stay in sync across the devices signed in to your Apple ID.

This data lives in your own private iCloud storage, which is tied to your Apple ID. We, the developers of Cue, do not run our own servers for your data and cannot read the contents of your private iCloud database. Apple stores and processes this data on our behalf under Apple’s privacy policy and iCloud terms.

If you are not signed in to iCloud, or if iCloud sync is turned off, your data is kept on your device only and will not sync. You can remove your data at any time by deleting the titles in the app or by removing the app and its iCloud data.

Movie and TV data

Cue uses the TMDB API to fetch movie and TV metadata such as titles, descriptions, and artwork, and the OMDb API to fetch ratings (such as IMDb, Rotten Tomatoes, and Metacritic scores). Streaming availability is provided by JustWatch through TMDB. When you search or browse, requests are sent to these services to retrieve this information.

As with any network request, these include standard technical data such as your device’s IP address, which the services use to return a response. Cue does not attach your name or any account to these requests. Please refer to the privacy policies of TMDB and OMDb for details on how they handle requests.

Diagnostics

If you have enabled sharing diagnostics and usage data with developers in your device settings, Apple may provide us with anonymized crash reports and diagnostics. This is optional and controlled entirely by you through Apple’s settings.

No advertising or analytics

Cue does not show advertising and does not use third-party analytics services.

We do not sell your data

We do not sell, rent, or trade any user data. We do not collect personal information to begin with.

Children’s privacy

Cue is not directed at children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Since Cue does not require an account and does not collect personal information, this should not arise in normal use.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Continued use of Cue after a change means you accept the updated policy.
